Medical Lab Coder #12628
Hours of availability: Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM; occasional weekends and overtime may be required
Work location: Aiea
Possible temp to hire
Pay if hired: commensurate with experience
Summary: Assigns or Verifies ICD-9 codes provided by physicians on all incoming documents to be entered into the computer system in accordance to CMS guidelines, departmental procedures and standards.
Qualifications
? High school diploma or equivalent
? Courses in Medical terminology and ICD-9 Coding required
? Two years experience in ICD-9 coding preferred
? CPC or CCS certification preferred
? Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedure, or governmental regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
? Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of internal and external customers
? Basic computer skills, including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. (preferably Windows, Word and Excel)
? Typing speed of 40 wpm
? Ability to work effectively, both independently and with a team
? Ability to handle high volumes of work and multi-task assignments
? Ability to retain information and have good recall ability
? Excellent customer service skills
? Able to operate general office equipment, such as copiers, facsimile machines, calculator, etc.
